ELP9

At the European Youth Music Festival 2018 in Sneek, also known as 'At The Watergate', we perform the grand masterpiece Karn Evil 9 from the band ELP (Emerson, Lake & Palmer). ELP was a so-called super group that was especially popular in the 70s and 80s with their progressive rock, which combines jazz, rock and classical music. Karn Evil 9 is a piece that is about the battle between the computers and the people, expressed in three parts or 'Impressions', where we’ll be playing the better known 1st Impression of. The title 'Karn Evil 9' is a parody of the word 'carnival' where 'Evil' undoubtedly refers to the computers. ELP 9 is a project ensemble specially created for this performance, consisting of 7 Frysian musicians, some of whom are known for their passion for progressive rock. With Haaije and Benjamin as Greg Lake, Jort Lijzenga as Carl Palmer and Onno, Leon and Filip as Keith Emerson you are guaranteed to have a fantastic performance: "Come and see the show!”
