Brass Orchestra ZUS Cesky Krumlov

Brass Orchestra ZUS Cesky Krumlov

The Brass Orchestra ZUS Cesky Krumlov has existed since 1966. Its members were mainly the students of the music school as well as some of their parents. The number of the orchestra players grew up to 40 members. It performs on various events and celebrations in the town of Cesky Krumlov, its own concerts, takes part in many festivals and competions. Many of its former players are part of renowned professional Czech orchestra.

In 1994 the orchestras director Stefan Matunak founded a much larger orchestra when he joined players from Slovenia, Austria and Germany. Its name was ‘Junior Europa’ and it had about 120 members.

Pavel Havlik has been the leader of the orchestra since 2001. It has two conductors and about 40 players, mostly contemporary as well as former students of our music school, which enables the orchestra to perform technically more demanding pieces.
In 2014 the orchestra won second place at the state competition in Letovice (Czech Republic) and in 2015 Pavel Havlik  got special prize for conducting and the soloists for their performance in Vysoke Myto (Czech Republic).
